Tatanka means great beast in the Lakota language. Buffalo (or bison) represented sacrifice and all needs met: it supplied the tribes with hides for their lodges and clothes, meat for them to eat, and raw material for tools like needles and bowls. I wanted this one to be resolutely standing in the cold to represent defiance and perseverance. This to me is a simply magnificent animal!
The original is graphite on 10"x10" Bristol board, the color added digitally afterward. As with all my pieces, prints of this one can be made for you in a wide variety of sizes, retaining a crisp resolution of the image! If you don't see a size that fits your needs, contact me, and I'll do what I can to make it happen.
